Technical problems with the WSNC transmitter have caused reception issues for some listeners recently.
On Tuesday June 27th, 2017, a component of the WSNC transmitter broke around 6 A.M. We were unable to broadcast our normal signal for over a day until staff members were able to restore our signal. Due to the broken component, we are broadcasting at reduced power.
We typically broadcast at 10 thousand watts. Right now we are broadcasting at 30 watts. Listeners may experience some temporary reception problems on the outer edges of the WSNC listening area.
The WSNC transmitter has been running constantly since we increased power in the early 90's. It has been a reliable old thing, but it still occasionally has problems as any vacuum tube based equipment does.
Thank you for your patience. We expect to be back to full power by the end of next week.
